I am proud to present my first café racer project, based on the Honda CB 750, a popular café racer bike. This bike was found on Kijiji, advertised as a rolling chassis with racing Yoshimura motor. The set consisted of only wheels, frame and engine. I started with drawings of the tank, seat, and tail section, then sent the project to Denis Curtis, who is one of the best at frame making and aluminum working. Denis built the seat, tank, and the custom frame. The tank was given a bare brushed aluminum finish with three clear coats and the hand painted decals.
The rest of the parts was carefully picked from ebay and other websites. With a completed restored racing Yoshimura motor, I needed the right exhaust to produce the right performance and sound from the engine, and complement the look of the bike. I considered four exhausts until I found the original Dunstall headers and the shorter (relative to the original Dunstall, too long) megaphones at the back. The last piece of the puzzle was adding the 29mm Keihin CR carburetors.
Starting this bike for the first time felt amazing. It really performs like a racing bike on the streets.
